Frequently Asked Questions

GETTING STARTED

  • Yes, we do. We believe every project, regardless of size, has the potential to make a big impact. And we’ll always be committed to providing high-level service for all of our clients.

If you have a small project you’d like to discuss, please don't hesitate to contact us. We’d love to hear about it and see how we can be of assistance.

  • Our interdisciplinary nature allows us to bring a diverse range of perspectives and expertise to any kind of project.

By drawing skills and knowledge from different disciplines, we can generate ideas that might not have been considered by a single-discipline design firm.

  • Design is a collaborative process. We try our best to understand your vision, but we can’t read your mind. The more specific you are with feedbacks, the more we can refine our designs to your requirements.

If you're unsure about why something isn't working, let us know so we can improve our work for you.

  • Thank you for considering our firm! Please email us at info@arkiasia.com and tell us about your project.

  • You are typically responsible for providing clear project goals and requirements.

    This may include:
    • Detailed information about the project site,
    • Intended use of the space,
    • Any specific design preferences or space requirements,
    • Relevant budget or timeline constraints.

For large companies, you may also be responsible for:
    • Obtaining any necessary permits or approvals for the project,
    • Coordinating with any other professionals and contractors who may be involved in the project.

In some cases, you may also be responsible for providing our firm with supplemental information, such as surveys or zoning regulations, that may be needed to inform the design process.

Generally, the specific responsibilities of clients will vary depending on the the project and our scope of work.

DESIGN

  • Environmental Graphic Design or EGD, is a design discipline that focuses on the use of graphics and other visual elements to create immersive environments.

It can take many forms; such as signage, wayfinding systems, graphic murals, and interactive displays. With the primary goal to help enhance people’s experiences in a place or space.

  • Yes, we can. Including EGD early on will result in a more cohesive, immersive, and user-friendly environment.

We can integrate wayfinding and signage systems into the building, and in some cases, recommend layout adjustments to the overall flow of a space to better enhance the user experience.

  • The purpose of the first meeting is to get to know you, your vision and your goals.

If we are both interested in continuing the project, we will send you a proposal for the work to be completed, and additional questions about you. We believe mutual communication and understanding are essential to not only a successful project, but a great ongoing relationship.

  • You may need to hire other professionals in addition to our firm, depending on the specific details of the project.

We can provide guidance and recommendations on any additional professionals that may be needed, and we can work closely with them to ensure a seamless design and construction process.

If your project involves any specialized building systems or technologies, you may need to hire a contractor or other professional who has expertise in those areas.

Ultimately, it will be your decision whether to hire any additional professionals, and if so, which professionals to hire.

  • It typically involves several stages; such as initial consultation, research and analysis, concept development, design development, creation of construction documents, and construction administration.

During each stage, we will work closely with you to ensure the project is meeting your goals and requirements.

CONSTRUCTION

  • It will depend on several factors such as the size and scope of the project, the materials and labor required, and any potential challenges or unforeseen expenses.

It's important to carefully assess all of these factors and consult with experienced professionals to determine a realistic and appropriate budget for the job.

In general, it's better to have a slightly larger budget than needed than to underestimate the cost of the project and risk running into financial difficulties later on.

  • Lots of activities take place during construction to bring a project to completion. It usually includes:

    • Preparing the site,
    • Laying the foundation,
    • And erecting the structure.

Construction teams consist of skilled workers, supervisors, and project managers who coordinate and execute the various tasks involved.

Regular inspections are typically conducted to ensure the work is being carried out according to plans and specifications.

  • We have our own network of reliable build partners that we can recommend depending on the nature of the project. But we are also happy to work with your preferred contractors.

  • It depends. A complicated project can take years, while a simple one can be done in a couple of months. Our ability to complete a project also hinges largely on your response time. We rely on your feedback to create a great piece of work, so the sooner you respond to us, the faster we can move forward.

  • Good communication is essential for successful construction projects. Everyone involved—client team, architects, engineers, contractors, subcontractors, and material suppliers, should be on the same page and are working towards the same goals.

FEES

  • Our fees vary depending on the scope and complexity of the project but we usually base it on the floor area, the expertise needed from us, and the value we can bring to your project.

Do contact us if you wish to request for a proposal.

  • It is true that hiring design professionals can add to the overall cost of a construction project. However, it's also important to consider the cost of bad design.

Good design can improve the functionality and aesthetic appeal of a building or space, and can also help to save time and money by identifying potential problems and solutions before construction begins.

Design professionals are there to help ensure that the project meets all necessary building codes and regulations, which can save costly delays and rework during the construction process.

  • It is possible depending on the specific circumstances of your project.

We recommend you to openly communicate your budget constraints and any other factors that may affect the cost of the project.

We are always willing to find a fee arrangement that is mutually acceptable.

  • Please see our first response in this category.
